The small truck is meant for the officer in charge. Besides the fire-fighting function, the RIV can also be used to chase away birds from the airport runways, to escort airplanes and for all kinds of preventive tasks.
The airport has chosen a Plastisol product because of the maintenance free characteristics, the long life time and the reliability. Furthermore, the composite superstructure has a substantially lower weight than a bodywork in traditional material like steel or aluminium. This keeps the weight of the truck far below the maximum vehicle weight which warrants the felxibility and manoeuvrability of the small truck.
